Executive Summary
The Re-Solve (Innovative solution for re-solving waste paper problem) program will be a flagship initiative under ‘Adopt A Pencil Educational Trust (Delhi)’ that will connects environmental conservation with inclusive employment. It transforms used and waste paper collected from schools into eco-friendly paper pencils, manufactured in small-scale school-based workshops operated by non-teaching staff and local youth.
The initiative’s long-term vision is to establish 5,000 workshops across within six years (2027–2032), generating 25,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities and distributing monthly 10 crore eco-friendly pencils free to students of participating schools.
2. Project Overview
The N.E.E.V (National Endeavour for Environmental Values) initiative under the Trust acts as the umbrella program, while Re-Solve Workshops are the operational units.
Each workshop utilizes waste paper collected from schools / colleges / offices and institutes, CSR funding, and crowdfunding support to manufacture paper pencils under GRIP brand.
The pencils are then distributed free of cost to the same schools that provided the paper and space for production.
3. Operational Framework: M.P.U Workshop
Each Re-Solve Unit will function within a partner school premises or a small rented space under Trust’s supervision. Every unit will be semi-automated and capable of producing up to 20,000 pencils per month, translating to 2.5 Lakh pencils per year per unit setup.
4. Paper Pencil Conversion
If one wooden pencil consumes ~5.5 g of wood, then 1 tonne of wood = ~181,000 pencils. 120 crore pencils replace ~21,000 tonnes of wood — roughly 4,00,000–5,00,000 trees saved annually.
5. Carbon Credit Partnership Framework
By saving thousands of trees annually, the Re-Solve initiative creates measurable carbon savings. These can be converted into verified carbon credits, tradable under the global carbon exchange framework.
🟩Environmental Value Chain Summary:
-
1 recycled pencil = 5.5 g wood saved
-
120 crore pencils = ~21,000 metric tons wood saved = ~400,000 trees = 23,500 MT CO₂ offset

The Re-Solve initiative under N.E.E.V is not merely a project — it is a movement for environmental education, employment generation, and national sustainability.
By 2032, it envisions a future where every student uses eco-friendly pencils, every youth earns with dignity, and every tree stands tall as a symbol of our collective responsibility.
