FAQs
MANY of us want to donate to a charity, but don’t know where to begin. From finding a genuine non-profit organization to determining whether online giving is safe, there are several challenges throughout the donation process. Adopt A Pencil Educational Trust is aware of these difficulties and acknowledges that donors only have limited time and energy to find and donate.
-
Is my donation secure?
Absolutely. The security and confidentiality of your information are our highest priority. We use industry-standard SSL (secure socket layer) technology to protect your information and provide a safe and secure environment for online donations.
A donation receipt will be sent to you at the email address that you would have provided while making donations, as soon as your donation is processed.
2. Who is your donation benefiting?
When you donate to a charity, it is important to understand who benefits from your donation. Although it is easy to assume that the beneficiaries of your donation are the people you hope to help, this may not always be the case. For example, if the NGO is large and runs multiple projects, it may be important to ensure you are donating to the particular project you want to support. If you are donating through a third-party platform, it may be necessary to ask how much of your donation is retained by them.
Adopt A Pencil recognizes that you want to create the greatest positive impact when you donate to us. Hence, information about projects, beneficiaries, and how the donation is distributed is easily available. Every listed campaign provides specific details about the program and its beneficiaries. Adopt A Pencil ensures that 80% of your contribution reaches your chosen purpose/beneficiary by keeping fundraising costs under 20%.
3. Are the online payment methods safe?
Online giving is incredibly convenient. It negates the distance between donors, and charities, allowing the former to support causes they are passionate about regardless of where they may be situated.
Adopt A Pencil Educational Trust takes these concerns very seriously, maintaining transparency and accountability about the measures in place to ensure the safety of donors’ data. Adopt A Pencil protects the information donors provide when they donate to us by enforcing very high standards on credit card security. Adopt A Pencil Educational Trust does not store any payment information on its servers either. Through Adopt A Pencil Educational Trust, online giving is convenient and safe. Now you can safely donate to Adopt A Pencil Educational Trust in India!
4. Are there any tax benefits of your donation to Adopt A Pencil?
Making charitable donations is inherently selfless, but it can benefit donors as well. Giving has been proven to make donors happier, and can also provide monetary benefits to them through tax exemptions.
If you are an Indian taxpayer, donations to Adopt A Pencil are eligible for a 50% tax exemption under Section 80(G). Let’s save you some tax while doing good for someone in need!
5. Can I cancel a donation that I’ve made?
Yes, you can cancel a donation that you have made any time up to 7 days after your payment was made. If you decide to cancel a donation after 7 days, we won’t be able to refund the donation provided as the donation has been used for a charitable project.
